My van was sitting still with air conditioner on for approximately 15 minutes air got hot so I turn ignition off. Cranked van up drove mile down road. Transmission would not change out of second gear. Had a p0700 code. I have replaced the in and out relays, the solenoid pack. No changes at all. Car cranks and runs perfect but still have p0700 code. Any suggestions?

Code P0700 is in the Engine Computer. That code simply means there is at least one diagnostic fault code in the Transmission Computer. That is the computer that needs to have the codes read and recorded, then we can figure out where to go next. Remember that fault codes never say to replace a part or that one is defective. They only point us to the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis.

Simple code readers only read fault codes in the Engine Computers. Some of the newer ones can access Transmission Computers too, but if yours doesn't, you'll need to find a mechanic with a scanner to do the job. Once you know the fault code numbers, you can go here:

to see the definitions, or I can interpret them for you.

As a hint, you can get an idea of the cause of going into limp mode by when that occurs. If you can start out in first gear, like normal, then it bangs back into second gear during or right after an up-shift, it is usually mechanical-related, such as wear in the clutch packs causing excessive slipping. If it goes into limp mode as soon as you shift into "drive", it is more likely to be electrical-related, including sensors and pressure switches.
