Check Engine Light turned on while going to work. I took it to O'Reilly who ran the OBD machine. The guy gave me the code and it turned back to be a fuel temperature sensor. I read on other forums that the sensor is not replaced separately and that the entire fuel pump needs to be replaced. I just wanted to ask for advice on this. Would I need to replace the entire fuel pump, if so, is there any way I can get it done by myself? What would be your estimate for the labor cost? Thank you in advance.

Yep, this is the code definition. P0181 is a generic OBD-II trouble code that stands for "Fuel Temperature Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance".

This sensor is part of the fuel pump, here are the wiring diagrams so you can confirm the placement. Here is the labor to do the job and I have included how to do the work yourself as well.

In Tank fuel pump @ 1.5 HRS

Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
