Hello,

This could be an air pocket in the cooling system. When the cooling system gets refilled, it must be done from the highest point otherwise an air pocket can form that will prevent the coolant from circulating. I have a 1997 Ford Mustang with a 4.6L engine in it. When I fill the cooling system on my vehicle, I undo the upper radiator hose on the engine side and holding it up add coolant here until it runs out of the engine where the upper radiator hose attached to the engine at. I am now guaranteed that there is not an air pocket present and the cooling system is filled with nothing but coolant. I reattach the upper radiator hose and drive. I hope that this helps.

Thanks,
Alex
