Low Oil Pressure

I have a 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera, 96,000 miles, 2.8L automatic. The oil pressure gauge stays just above the red marks. It was OK about a month ago and would read around 60. I have had the oil changed along with the air filter and of course oil filter and it still stays just above the red marks. What's next--oil pump or maybe switches or something?

Hi there,

You should have a good quality well calibrated master oil pressure gauge hooked up to test oil pressure, don't relay on car gauges as they are notoriously inaccurate. When you know the true oil pressure readings Cold idle, hot idle, hot at speed. Then you can determine what needs to be rectified.
