:x :x :x Please lead me in the right direction!

I have a 1993 Oldsmobile Achieva S. It is an automatic. It has 129888 miles and running strong. The problems seems to be the transmission. I first noticed it about 3 months ago after comming to a stop after a long stretch. When I came to the stop the car stalled. It just shut off on me in the middle of traffic. I put in PARK and tried to restart and it wouldn't right away. After about the 5th try it finally did. I moved it to a parking lot. I shut it off and popped the hood. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary or smell anything out of the ordinary. So I restarted it with the hood up still. Sounded great. Like nothing ever happened. I drove it home and it started to do this again. It would only do it when I would come to a stop or slow down enough to where the transmission had to downshift.
I still drive the car. After that day for almost 2 weeks it acted fine. Then again it did it. But only after I had been driving the car for a while. I then noticed it would happen if it was hot outside or if the car had been driven for anything over 30-45 mins. I started to really pay attention and it seems to me that the transmission isn't downshifting into first when it needs to therefor it stalls out.
If anyone could please lead me in the right direction!
I love this car. The best 1200 I ever spent on a vehicle. I don't want to get rid of it.
Any suggestions?

Thanks![/B]
