I have a 92 Delta 88 with 126,000 miles. I purchased it about a year ago. Six months into it, my ABS light went on, my mechanic said it was the master cylinder we replaced the master cylinder. That was replaced at the end Dec 2006 however the light stayed on. The master cylinder lasted until l about April 2007. When we fixed it in April we replaced the calipers, rotors brake pads and master cylinder again. My ABS light was still on. So my mechanic said it the car is fine to drive. Here is what is still going on.

My brakes work fine as long as the ABS light is lit. When the ABS light goes out, the brakes go down to the floor and then pushes the petal back the is just enough breaking to stop. I am afraid one of these times the brakes will fail completely.

Is this the master cylinder again? If so, what would be causing my master cylinder to only last about 4 months?

If it is not the master cylinder what else could it be? Any and all help is appreciated :

Did your mechanic retieve the ABS codes? The master cylinder may be getting the seal sucked out of it by a bad booster, unbolt the master from the booster, start the car, and see if there are any vacuum leaks around the mounting area. Get the ABS tested by a competent guy.

I'm with Merlin that mechanic isn't up to snuff on ABS issues and it is obviously a safety concern.
