I have a 1991 olds quad 442
the oil pressure drops into the red zone and the over head cam starts makeing all kinds of clicking and nocking noises
it has a 2.3L H.O.
the dip stick reads full of oil

The oil pump may be bad DO NOT run the car anymore or you will be spending thousands in repairs. If you have to means remove the oil pump and check the flatness of the cover, clearance between outer rotor and housing, inner and outer rotors installed, and clearance between top of rotors and strait edge positioned ontop of the housing, measure thickness of rotors. Check the pressure relief valve as well it could be stuck open. Compare results against specifications from a repair manual if faulty replace. If not there may be a more serious problem. Low oil pressure indicates worn cam, main, and rod bearings.
