1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Start up trouble

Last night I had atrted my car and it did well . Half self starts no probs.
Today when in the morning I tried to start; as The ignition lights came on I get this thumping sound and the engine does not crank however all dash ignition lights begin to flicker. Tried couple of times and it renmained same. wondering what could be the problem. Could it be the Battery that requires a change.

First, check the battery. Most parts stores will do a load test for free. Also, check terminal connections and the ground on the engine block to make sure it is good, tight, and clean.
