i have a 89 cutlass supreme when i bout it the engine light was on i replaced the upper intake manifold gasket both coolant temp sensors/sender the pigtail wire for the sender and the thermostat.
The engine light is now off but everytime i drive anywhere no matter the distance the temp light comes on. anyone kno what could be wrong?

Does the engine actually overheat?

no it reads around 216 then one of the fans kicks in. i was told that thats ok. but i am wondering why the light stays on.

Actually, that is getting hot, but not hot enough to set a light. You may want to try replacing the temp sending unit. It may be causing the light to come on too soon.
