everytime i start the car it turns off after a few minutes unless i unplug one of the connectors to the mass fuel air sensor (i was told that the name of it) then it runs fine but it makes a loud noise and the rpm are high so my question is what could be wrong with it and is it harmful to the car to run it with that unplugged?

that is the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor and from what you have described it has failed and needs replaced. You can run with it unplugged but it is not good on the engine as it will mess up the fuel / air ratio and cause your fuel mileage to go way down as well.
