Hi, my cousin's car died suddenly; the small-town mechanic she knows found the fuel filter clogged and changed it; did not fix; new fuel pump, did not fix; new battery, did not fix. Here's what it does: jump it off, starts and idles perfectly, everything worksm remove the jumper cabes, the lights including instruments start fading immediately and the engine dies within 10 seconds, then dead, won' t crank, nada, but put the jumper cables back on, and it's back to life. - Thought at first it was the PassKey system, now I don, t know. Help! I'm paying!

It sound's like a bad alternator charge your battery fully and start the car and see what the voltage read's at the battery at idle. Let me know what the voltage read's.

Here's the problem with checking it at the auto part's it wasn't in your car with your wiring. SO if your car has a wiring issue to the alternator you will never know. That's why I asked you to check it like I did.

Thanks, you were right: wire from the alternator to the starter was bad. Cost me a lot because I bought a fuel pump, starter, and battery that were not the problem. Well, the battery was old, as was the fuel pump.
