1999 Oldsmobile Alero Location of the Thermostat

Hi. Where exactly is the location of the thermostat on a 1999 Alero Oldsmobile 6 cylinder? And is it possible for a defective thermostat to cause the heater to not get hot? The car only gets hot when driving at a high rate of speed. Thanks for all you do Chris

Located on back top engine follow top radiator hose over to thermo housing will need to remove exhaust crossover pipe see diagram

Unbolt thermo is there. When refilling open the bleeder on neck of housing to expell air.

Thanks for the reply. However, the diagram is somewhat hard to understand. Which is the back of the engine and still can't follow exactly where the thermostat is located. Could you be a little more specific. Thanks

Diagram is back of engine follow top radiator hose over to engine it will be behind the exhaust pipe that needs to be removed.
