I need to change my harmonic balancer, are there any special tools needed? Is this a job that the average backyard mechanic wants to tackle?

Hello,

It can be a a job.... A lot will depend on access to the balancer... You may need to remove the engine mount at front of engine and the tranny mounts at front of vehicle and at fire wall. You will also need a 3/4" Impact gun (Electric unless you have an air compressor) to remove the crank pulley bolt. And I believe it will come off fairly easy using a pry bar and carefully prying from back side.
