The oil sending unit went out in April and we had it replaced. 30 days later, almost to the exact day, it went out again. They replaced it again at no charge. 30 days later, it went out again. This time they got the part from a dealer and replaced it again and changed the oil and filter. It has now been 30 days, and it is out again. Do you know what might be causing this as I am sure the mechanic is as tired of replacing it as I am of it going out!

Hello,

These year Malibu's do have a fairly common oil sending unit issue.
What diagnostic code is the vehicle producing? There usually some sort of engine light that comes on with oil sending unit failure.
Sometimes the error happens if the sending unit gets clogged by any debris on the oil.
Here is a very helpful article of the common GM oil sending using issue.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.
