Hi, recently I have had an occurring light switch on and off. It says switch off engine, oil pressure too low. I have had the oil pressure switch sensor changed but the problem still persists. I have diagnostics from Audi dealer but they have not found anything. When the light comes on the car shakes more and I notice a little white smoke from exhaust. It's not much but it is still visible. Can you help me?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Has the oil pressure been checked using a mechanical gauge? Have you noticed any certain conditions that cause it? Also, you mentioned white smoke. Is there any engine coolant missing? Has the oil been checked for coolant mixing?

Let me know.

I'm not sure if my mechanic has checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. I even had my car inspected by Audi both visually and diagnostic. The coolant level is fine. There is no condition where the light is onset. There are no fault codes coming too. Audi did highlight that maybe it could be some sludge blocking oil pipe.

Welcome back:

If the oil has been regularly changed, sludge shouldn't be an issue. I would also want the pressure checked with a mechanical oil pressure gauge to determine if this is truly an oil pressure related issue or if it an electrical fault via the switch and PCM.

I really feel that needs confirmed. Otherwise, we don't truly know where to start. Also, when the light comes on for an extended period of time, is there any noise such as ticking, knocking, or anything that seems out of the ordinary other than the rough idle?

Let me know.
