O2 sensors are showing giving me trouble codes

These are my trouble codes but so where do I start testing.


i understand the O2 sensors send signals to the pcm that control fuel injection so im wondering if thats what is causing my random misfires but I would just like to have a better idea of how/where I begin testing wires? Help

Trouble Code
P0358
Ignition Coil H / Primary Circuit and Secondary Circuit

This code is Present when the Engine Control Module (ECM) does not receive a valid pulse from an ignition Coil
The Primary Circuit is identified as the Low Voltage side of the ignition system and it includes the battery, ignition switch, primary coil winding, a triggering mechanism (such as a crankshaft sensor) and switching device (such as an ignition module or ECU)
The Secondary Circuit Is identified as the High Voltage Side and includes the coil pack and spark plugs.

Modern Engines are less complicated and each cylinder has its own coil pack. The Low Voltage enters the top windings of the coil pack and then enters into the bottom windings which are tighter wound when the circuit is cut off by a switching device (usually the Powertrain Control Module or PCM) an electromagnetic field collapses onto these windings and produces a High Voltage current that enters the Spark plug. This new age ignition system eliminates the need for a Distributor, Rotor, Cap, or Coil / Spark Plug Wires.

The Powertrain Control Module will send trouble codes P0351 thru P0358
when it detects a problem with the ignition coil circuit, The Last Number of the trouble code indicates the cylinder in question.

In addition to an illuminated check engine light, the most common symptom is an ignition misfire. Often, P035x codes will also be accompanied by a misfire code (P0300-P0308).

PO300 Stands for Random Misfire Detected
PO301 Thru PO308 Designates which one of the 8 cylinders is misfiring

This Trouble Code is somehow related to or perhaps causing the Above three problems with Code PO368

The Symptoms of this kind of trouble code are
Engine power loss
Hard starting or no start at all
Engine stumbles or stalls
Possible causes of this trouble code are
Faulty CrankShaft Positioning Sensor (CKP)
Open or shorted CKP sensor harness
Poor electrical connection in the CKP sensor
Stretched or jumped timing belt or chain
Faulty CamShaft Positioning Sensor (CMP)
Open or shorted CMP sensor harness
Poor electrical connection in the CMP sensor
this code can also be thrown if the cylinders are showing intermittent misfires
or if the timing belt is off (the Timing Belt / Chain can jump after a CMP Or a CKP has been replaced).

Ok the next Trouble Code on my Dodge is
P1682 - Ignition 1 Switch Circuit 2

Code P1682 Displays if the ECM detects a difference in the voltage levels of the two main power inputs to the ECM.

The First Power Input Circuits or ignition circuit is powered by a powertrain relay through a fuse. It powers all the internal Engine Control Module (ECM) circuits associated with the Throttle Actuator Control (TAC). The (TAC) Is the electronic communication of your foot on the gas pedal to the the throttle on the engine.

The Second Ignition Voltage Circuit is supplied by the run/crank relay through a fuse, and is used to power the remaining internal ECM circuits.



This can be caused by a Faulty Ignition Switch or a fuse/relay involved in the circuit

Good morning.

The 1682 is for the charging system.

. Possible causes:
- Ambient/battery temperature sensor
- B (+) circuit high resistance
- Generator ground high resistance
- Generator field driver circuit open
- Generator field driver circuit shorted to ground
- Generator field source circuit shorted to ground
- Generator field source (+) circuit open
- PCM

The 301 and up codes are for multiple misfires. That could be failing from lack of fuel. That would be the fuel pump. I would check the pressure and be sure it is correct.

As far as the coil codes, They could be failing under load. You would need a scan tool that could monitor live data while the misfires happen.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Coil driver no.8 circuit open
- Wiring harness intermittent
- Coil driver no.8 circuit shorted to ground
- Coil on plug no.8
- Powertrain control module (coil driver no.8)

1391 code

SYMPTOM
P1391-INTERMITTENT LOSS OF CMP OR CKP

WHEN MONITORED
Engine running or cranking.

SET CONDITION
When the failure counter reaches 20 for 2 consecutive trips.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- CMP sensor out of sync
- Damaged tone wheel/flex plate (crankshaft)
- Damaged tone wheel/pulse ring (camshaft)
- Irregular lab scope pattern of CMP signal
- Intermittent CKP signal loss when wiring is wiggled
- Irregular lab scope pattern of CKP signal
- Wiring harness intermittent
- Intermittent CMP signal loss when wiring is wiggled
- Sensor connector/wiring
- Sensor connector/wiring
- Camshaft position sensor
- CKP sensor connector/wiring
- Crankshaft position sensor

These are not easy codes to diagnose.

You will need an advanced scan tool and volt meter to check the system.
