no spark

Hi there, the truck would not idle so I replaced the pickup coil, and now no spark.

Hi,

Are you referring to the PIP (profile ignition pickup) in the distributor? See pic 1 below. I attached an explanation of how it works. (Pics 2-5) It describes how the ignition system works as a circuit.

Let me know if that is what you replaced and the engine size. Also, if you haven't already, check to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored that may be helpful. Here is a link that shows how to retrieve codes. You don't need a scan tool for this.

Let me know what, if any, codes are found. Also, the engine size and if I am looking at the correct part that was replaced. Also, let me know if you checked for power to the coil with the key in the run and start positions.
