Hi I have a nissan sentra 2004 1.8L car.
41,000 miles.I have not had any trouble until now, I tried to backup and cannot get the shifter to move out of park, I called my dealer and the person I talked to didnt have any ideas, they did tell me to remove the shift lock button, so I have been using a small screwdriver to press down on it to get the car out of park.I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem before? Thanks for any help.

It could be the brake light switch, could need replacing.
It is part of the safety lockout feature on most cars. Your
car is only 2 years old, it could be under warranty. Also,
there may be a cable that runs between the foot brake
and the shifter mechanism, and it may be out of adjustment.
