I have pushed the button on the RKE computer but it does not go into programming mode. It is supposed to give a series of beeps and them go into a beep every second or so. At that time I am supposed to press the button on the key fob to program it.

step 1: I insert the key and turn it on and then off.
Step 2: I press the button on the RKE computer and hold it down until I hear a series of beeps; I then release it and press the remote fob and the beeps will change to let me know it recognized the fob and programmed I t.

I do not get the series of beeps. It just goes straight into a beep every second or so.
Any suggestions?

When you hold the button down, does it give 4 tones, followed by a 5 tone burst? If not it isnt in programming mode. If it is in programming mode, it will let out single tones, these are the opportunity to program by pushing arm/disarm. Is the door closed when doing this? According to Mitchell any open pin switch could cause this. Nissan also had a problem with the pin switch under the hood
