2001 Nissan Maxima blower motor switch on dash

The switch on my dash that controls the blower speed is not working properly--pos4 no blower--pos 3no blower pos 1&off low blower speed--pos 2 supplies hi speed

You've got a partially burned out fan resistor. It is located in the compartment near the blower unit. To get to it you have to remove the glove box and the resistor is mounted by one screw, along the pathway of the air movement. It is a unit about 3"x5"x2" (approximate guess), with a wiring plug connected to it (about half a dozen wires plug)
