1997 Nissan Maxima HELP

I ran out of gas, I put gas in about half of a quarter of a tank, it starts up but it seems like once it gets on it can't keep itself going, im not sure what I should do

Running out of gas is a good way to destory a fuel pump, I would like you to check the fuel pressure and get back to me

could also be dirt and garbage that got sucked off the bottom of the tank into the fuel system when the gas got low.

Also someone listened to the fuel pump and said the motor wasn't running

To test fuel pressure you will need to attatch a fuel pressure test guage to the fuel port and then you have to wire the pump on constantly with scantool. And then run it and check and compare with specification.
