1993 Nissan Maxima gas smell coming from heater

Since earlier this month (December 2007) I have used my heater more in northern Colorado. There is a smell of what seems like gas coming into the car when the heater is on.

What could be causing that. What should I do. Is it the thermostat or something worse?

Hi there,

Is the recirculated air on outside? If so you may have a leak under the bonnet or car and the out side air coming in is tainted.
