I own the above vehicle with an automatic transmission, 210,000 mile, 6 cylinder. I've got a knocking noise when turning which I understand is signifying a problem with the CV joint. Also when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd there is a sharp pull to the right; stronger if I'm accelerating. I'm told this is resulting due to the CV joint problem. Is this accurate information. Also, I've been told to replace both CV joints as opposed to just the problematic one? Is this good advice? Finally, I've been looking at buying the part online (I've got a friend who can do the replacement). How do I determine which part I need? Thanks in advance for your help.

Just change the half shaft for that side and you'll be fine, make sure you torque the axle nut and use new cotter pin at tie rod/steering knuckle. My apprentice did that last week for a nissan sentra 95 the same symptoms it pulls when it upshifts to the right.
