1998 Nissan Frontier, 120,000 miles; 4 cylinder. The windshiel wiper on the drivers side is intermittant; when it does work it stutters along the window. When it is turned off it goes down further than the passenger side blade

Sounds like one of the pivots is having a problem. You might have to remove the valance at the base of the windshield to visually inspect it
