1968 Datsun 1600 battery

I have a 1968 datsun roadster 2000. Charging system works fine if my headlights are not on. If headlights are on the battery does not charge. I have changed the regulator.

Hi there, I would like to know what the loaded charge rate is, that is what the alternator output is with the lights, heater and wipers on.

When I took it to the gas station it was charging around 14.
With the lights on we were around 11. We didn't turn on the heater and wipers.
Thanks for getting back to me.

If you need more in info I will go to the station and get all the numbers for you

Hi there, with a load on, (the lights are enough to prove a point here) the alternator is not working under load, I would be having it overhauled and then re checking the charge rate, depending on battery condition you will be wanting 13.5 14 V
