Instrument gauge shows overheating when accelerating

Would a slipping fan belt cause the instrument gauge to rise or show the engine is overheating when accelerating?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Just a few questions first. Can you hear the belt squealing or making noise? Also, Have far does the temperature gauge climb? Does it just move a little or go way into the red? Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
