Most likely, in my experience, it is not a problem with the switch, but instead with the key itself. Take your key and car title up to the nearest Chevrolet dealer and have them check the key. They should check it for free. If it comes back as being the problem, then all you need to do is get a new key made. Simple as that. Let us know what you come up with.

Hi Heyman, you are exactly right, so I did that and it should start, but it has something to do with the codes? Innova scan says I have 9141 code error, no freeze frame information or computer information after a mechanic I use is in training. Which I learned after he could not start my car doing repairs under the car and in the car shifting my gear I saw him do this. I returned later to show me he has taken out the ignition switch? Now my real mechanic at the dealership will not touch it to repair. So I cannot use the other guy who took out the switch because I put much into detailing it. It is nice for a lady car, so I do not want to tow it again. I need a mobile mechanic. I live in Madison, MS.

The problem you have is that the whole setup is already taken apart. No mechanic wants to get in to working on something that someone already started. Because there is no telling what damage was done. A mobile mechanic may be a good option for you. But I do not personally know of any in your area. A Google search turned up these mechanics.

Mobile Mechanic Jackson
Terry, MS
(601) 707-9576

Blue Star Mobile Repair
Jackson, MS
(601) 503-6220

Hayes Mobile Auto Repair
Jackson, MS
(601) 862-6495

Hopefully one of them can help you. Or maybe they can point you to someone. You might also search craigslist for your area.
