I turned on the heat in my car but it, s only blowing out cold air?

First heat the engine up by driving it. Park it with the car running and feel the hoses going to the heater core if one or neither is hot then the core may need to be flushed or the system may need to be bled of air. If they are both hot I would look at the blend door make sure its not sticking.
