1999 Mitsubishi Galant

Help! I have the subject mentioned car. 119,000 miles on it. And all of a sudden it only has 3rd gear. It's an automatic but it doesn't shift at all. It just stays in i believe 3rd. I can't go over 45 mph or it almost red lines. Any ideas of suggestions on whats wrong with it? I had someone look at it thinking it was the linkage, but they said the linkage is fine. It's a 2.4.

IF no recent work has been done to it and the fluid is full, you may want to go to the dealer for diagnosis on this one IMHO. The transmission control modules have a bad reputation on these, but it isn't to say that there may be internal wear requiring a rebuild.

The obviously attractive member has updated me that the car is repaired. 8) A couple fuses and a couple electrical parts were needed.

With a little luck, MissGalant will update this with specifics.
