IM PUTTING A HEAD GASKET ON A MITSUBISHI COLT 82 IV DROPPED THE TIMMING CHAIN I WANT TO NO WHERE THE MARK ON THE TOP COG IS TO FACE I NO THE BOTTOM ONE GOES ON THE THE TDC DONT NO WHERE THE TOP ONE LINES UP TO PLEASE

Hi TOMMIGUN007,

There are supposed to be marks on the camshaft pulley, crankshaft pulley and timing chain that should match.

The chain should have 2 point which are different in color on one side, match them with the crank and cam gear marks.

If you are unable to find them. Then at the cam gear, set the locking pin to the top and confirm the No 4 the valves are overlapping.

After installiing, turn the engine clockwise 720 degrees by hand and confirm the chain is set correctly.

Note : if resistance is felt during turning, DO NOT force, you might bend the valves due to improper valve timing.
