Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Mitsubishi Montero 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 105K miles

After my "service engine soon" light came on, I went to Sears and did a diagnostic check. 2 codes were identified in the report.P0110 - Intake Air Temp sensor circuit malfunction, and P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire.
Can you please give me some idea what the cause and/or solutions might be? (And the approx costs?) Sears re-set the computer to make the light turn off, and said if it comes back on I'd need to take it to a dealership because it would probably be a bigger problem than they could handle, but couldn't even give me an idea as to what that problem might be.

The car runs absolutely smooth and there's no indication of any problem at all.

I need to sell this car asap to save my home, so I want to make sure it's in good running condition and don't want to "screw" anybody who buys it.

Thanks so much for the help.

As far as screwing anyone, just be upfront with them.

The misfire can be a wide array of possiblities, too much fuel not or enough fuel. Fuel injector? Poor compression that can be from a various amount of sources. Head gasket, valves, carbon etc. Poor ignition from a weak plug or coil. I don't believe these have wires. If so that can be a possibility.

I think this one has boots that can go bad between the plug and coil. That would be cheap. This would have to be diagnosed and a cost is nor determinable with out knowing what the source is.

The po110 I would suspect a bad IAT. Possibly the wiring or connectors as well as a possible but not probably PCM.
