the ac unit cools good when the ac compressor is on byt it wont stay on , runs 3 seconds and cycles off. Help.thanks,ken

Needs a recharge...or low pressure cycling switch here is a video to help you recharge the system
DUAL-PRESSURE SWITCH 1. With engine off, disconnect pressure switch connector (located on receiver-drier). Connect a jumper wire across high/low pressure side of harness connector. See Fig. 4 . Install manifold gauge set to high pressure side service valve of refrigerant line. 2. Start engine and adjust engine speed to 1000 RPM with A/C clutch engaged. Turn blower switch on. Engine should be warm and doors and windows closed. 3. Check for continuity at pressure switch terminals with manifold gauges at specified pressure. See PRESSURE SWITCH SPECIFICATIONS table. Condition is normal if there is continuity between the terminals. If there is no continuity, replace switch.

I just bought a 95 mitsubishi mirage with 95000 miles on it. it runs great but when i turn on the AC it blows warm air. Is there a way to recharge it easily or would i have to have it done at a shop?

if your vehicle has already been retrofitted, to 134a which I think it has, then yes, its very easy, get yourself a big can with the meter on it, and follow the directions, its that simple, do not be intimidated
