2003 Mitsubishi Lancer car won't go back are forward

A truck cut me off and I press the breaks the car stop an when I press the gas it didn't go an it made a clanking noise. Now the car won't go back or forward I put the car in park but I can still push the car I have to put the emergency breaks on. What can the problem be.

Hi there,

If you can push the car, the problem is in the drive line, either a broken drive shaft, differential, or a failure in the transmission, I would be checking the drive shafts first and if all is good there, the transmission will need to be inspected.
