First of all thank you so much for your donation. Yes a bad crank shaft sensor will cause the car to crank not start. So does it crank not start after driving for a little while? Also do you have a multimeter?

Also when your starter doesn't turn the engine over does your security light stay on or flash?

I'm not sure what a mulimeter is. Typically it will start after sittin for a while. But when driving for a little while if I shut it off then it won't start. I haven't been driving it since the check engine light came on. When I drove to Autozone today it started up fine and drove fine. I drove about 1 mile to AZ I cut it off when the tech came out to do the test it didn't start right away. He waited 5 minutes then it started and he was able to get the code. I haven't lost power while driving. When I first start it all the dash lights come on as they should but no turn over of the engine, no clicking, the lights stay on until I turn the key back to ff position. What made me think it also could need a starter when this first happened AAA came out tried to jump and it wouldn't start but again I had radio, dash lights, head lights and all that he tapped on the starter while a started the car and it turned right over. All lights stay on no flashing

The reason I ask about the security light is because your security system disables the starter and if that light was on or flashing you could have a problem with the security system malfunctioning causing your starter not to work. If your car cranks over and doesn't start then that could be your crank sensor. If your starter is working then that could be a few thing's going wrong. You would have to wait till the starter became inop and then trace power down from the switch to the starter to see if it was the starter or something else. That's why I asked you if you had a multimeter to do that. What a multimeter is is a meter that can measure voltage and ohm's and some are more fancy and can measure other thing's too. You could even test your crank sensor with one on ohm's setting when it got hot and the car would crank and not start then you would measure the ohm's value across the sensor to see if it was failing. Sound's like you have two problem's but with without some testing you would just be guessing as to what's really wrong.I don't like to guess myself it could get expensive and it's a waste of money unless the part is cheap and you really think that's what's wrong with the car. It sound's like your not much of a trouble shooter since you didn't know what a multimeter was.I could be wrong though if you wanted to try a crank sensor then I could help you threw that or even help you threw some testing. It's up too you let me know what you want me to help you with.

No I'm don't know a lot about cars outside of keeping up with everyday maintence. I would definately be taking it to a shop. I always stop past here before I go just to get some background knowledge so I'm not duked because I am a woman. I got the code from AutoZone P0335 and wanted to know what would cause the code so I won't get unnecessary work done.

With your code p0335 depending on which way the trouble tree take's you it would be the crank sensor itself the wiring or the computer. Most likely it's usually the sensor but anything is possible. They also have to figure out why you get a no crank no start they would have to trace the wire's when it happens from the ignition switch to the starter I think most likely it's the starter but again anything is possible. Let me know you make out with the car repair's.
