I having difficulty in turning the key in the ignition switch to start the car. I have to move the steering hard to the right or left before turning the key. Is there some type of lubricant I can use and how hard is it to replace the ignition switch and steering wheel lock? Each time I've had the problem, I verified the shifter was in Park.

Hi bobbike,

Putting some engine oil into the key slot might help but I suspect the key cylinder is worn so most probably you need to replace it.

To replace the key lock is not difficult.
Remove steering cover.
Turn Ignition to ACC.
Use sharp object to press in a small pin at lock and you can pull the key cylinder out.

To replace the whole assy would be much more difficult.
Remove steering cover.
Disconnect Ignition switch wire.
Use centre punch and small hammer (don't use excessive force)to turn out 2 pieces of round bolts, (hex head broken off during installation for security.)
