My oil light comes on every time I drop under 1000 RPMs. As soon as I go above 1000 RPMs it goes off. The oil appears to be at the regular level, but I have been getting a little burnt oil smell, very faint, recently. Any ideas whaqt may be wrong? Any suggestions?

You need to verify you have oil pressure below 1000 rpms. Instal a "T" where the oil pressure sender goes in and install manual gauge to verify pressure. If there is none below 10000 you may have a bad oil pump, bearings or partially plugged oil pump pickup tube in the pan. If oil pressure is good then your oil sender is most likely the culprit
