2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse EGR valve

Will it mess up my car to drive it with the egr valve messed up or clogged? Im goin to get it fixed but I cant till next week. It also makes a noise when I crank up my car, you can hear it though the exhust.

The only real way its going to be a problem is if it is stuck open. You won't even notice that the egr passages are clogged. I don't know about the noise. Does it only happen when you start it up?
