I was driving home last night when suddenly the car acted as if it had been switched to neutral. It was still in drive, and when I pressed the gas the motor just reved and the wheels didn't respond.

It shifts between gears fine. There has been no noise, no scrubbing or rubbing. There was no odd noise when it happened, no bang or pow or anything.

I checked the transmission fluid and it looks fine. It's not burned. What else might the problem be?

Check the front axles, if the cage in one of the outter CV joints shattered you will need to replace the axle, both sides need to be connected for the car to move. Just a thought.

Have the throttle position and vehicle speed sensor checked out-if okay get the transmission pressure tested to identify internal problems-
