I purchased a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse in October 2007. Just recently when you change into 3 gear its fine but if you want to go a bit faster and put your foot down on the accelerator, it seems like the clutch is either slipping (the revs go up a bit) and it feels like an automatic kicking down, then its fine. One garage told me that if the fluid in the clutch resevoir is wrong, it could cause this to happen. He told me that maybe someone put oil in it instead of brake fluid. Could this be the answer? Your help would be appreciated, i'm getting tired of going to garages and getting different answer from them all!

If it is already in gear the fluid in the system means nothing. Sounds like the clutch is slipping, then catching.A little premature mileage wise, but if it was driven hard makes sense

Went to a garage today, finally someone told me what was the problem, and yes, you were right, the clutch is slipping. It seems like I have to replace the whole unit. Perhaps my car doesn't like the snow and rain here in Vancouver, it was used to the sun in Cali and Las Vegas! Thanks for your help. :D

Youre welcome. Be sure to install a new clutch, not a reman unit and also make sure they redurface the flywheel. Good luck wth your new car
