1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse mass flow air sensor

Yes I jus baught a eclipse 1997 gst turbo it turns on but when u put it into gear and try drive it, it turns off but it doesent have a mass flow air sensor the one it had broke could that be the problem?

Yes, if it came with one it has to have it in order to run correctly

Oh ok so that would be the reason it shuts of when I shift it in first and try and take off right?

Be a good place to start. If the computer doesnt know ho wmuch air is entering the engine it doesnt know how much fuel to give it

Install the MAF and have the codes cleared, if there are any other problems the check engine light will come back on and we can go from there
