Electrical problem
1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 105k miles

Hey I just bought this car and the guy told me he disconnected the alarm because it was draining the battery for some reason, so it cant be a bad battery or the stereo because it starts up everyday without the alarm. He told me that it had automatic locks with the alarm but there was some problems, if you shut the door too hard it locks by itself? I know people told me there could be a short but where do I check it? I get the car back today after it gets its timing belt and everything around changed so I dont have to worry about it later. BTW this is a 97 eclipse RS so windows are manual and so is the moonroof.

If the battery is actually draining and battery/alternator are okay then its coming from a short circuit with the electrical sysytem.

Where is the electrical system, is it located by the fuse box?

You need to get this vehicle into the shop. Just you asking where the electrical system tells me something-The electrical system covers all electrical/electronics components operated within the entire car to include the wiring and it can be a nightmare to deal with no electrical background experience.

If you have a test light or multimeter, hook it in series with the negative battery cable and pull fuses until you see zero on the multi-meter or until the test light goes out. 1 fuse box is under the hood and the other under the steering wheel. This requires 2 people. Hope it helps!
