Transmission problem
1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Manual 160000 miles

I have tried to find an answer to my question but nobody has an answer, My clutch is really loose but the car wont shift into gear when it is on, when its off it will go in just fine. I talked to advance auto parts because they said it was the fluid but I put fluid into the car and it still hasnt changed. What could this be? Thanks In advance.

Hi there,

The clutch will have to be bleed of any air, the air will compress and give this soft feeling, air will enter the system normally through a faulty master Cly or slave cylinder, to bleed the system you need to hold down the clutch pedal and then open the bleeder on the slave Cly, close the bleeder and lift the pedal, repeat several times and ensure that the fluid level it topped up between bleeds.

Hi there,

The slave Cly is located on the side of the transmission, and the bleeder is circled in the pic.
