Engine Performance problem
1998 Mitsubishi Challenger 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 194522 miles

Hi
My Mitsubishi Challenger has 2 problems.

1. When you start in drive the second gear does not engage and engine loses power after a few meters car starts to jack as if requesting for more powerful gear.
When that happens I am forced to enter 1st from" L" Gear to " 2" then to " D" when vehicle reaches 40KPH

2. When driving up hill the Gear does not uplift to more power full gears, even if I apply to much force on the accererator the RPMs do not inrease at this point

What can I do at this point.

Remove positive terminal for 10 second and see if it clears the check light your car might be in limp on mode or low power mode
