Engine Performance problem
1993 Mercury Villager 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I changed catalytic converter, airflow meter, spark plugs, d-cap, rotor cap, gas filter and tuned-up. Every time the car is driven 10 minutes or engine warms up it begins misfiring, choking, looses power until it turns off. I have to let it cool off for 30-60 minutes before it can start again and drive. What is going on? Can you help?

Ok it sound like you may have a module problem. Now what needs to be known is weather or not you have spark when it dies and won't start. Do you have a digital multi meter to use? Get back to me with the needed info and we will go from there.

I have the same year van 1993 mercury villager and it does the same thing, after so long it misfires an evenually shuts off and won, t restart until it cools off. I have replace a sensor the the egnine control module. Took it to shop they scoped the computer system and said it needs a distributor and also said that the ignition pattern is very erratic, and that it may have a damaged computer. What do you think?
