My Mercury will not start at times. All the lights on dash are on and taconometer is ticking. I turn off key and try again. Sometimes I have to do this several times. Sometimes I gently touch gas feed (which I know you are not to do) then it will start.
While engine is hit off after trying to start taconometer will click and slightly move. Have had it to repair and it would not do it while there.

No start engine not cranking
check the starter and also check the small S wire on the starter
