I have a problem with my Mercury Sable and I'm not sure what to do. Lately, whenever I turn off my car, I lose all power (lights, windows, locks, etc) momentarily. I hear a clicking noise in the dash while this is happening, and normally power is restored shortly. Every now and then, I get a 'Check Break System' warning when I am driving and it seems to lose power for 2 seconds, but I just had my breaks changed a few months ago.

Hi beaverboblv,

Thank you for the donation.

Your symptoms seems to describe a fault with the ignition switch. The contacts are not providing sufficient conductivity and while driving this would interrupt the power supply to some of the items causing the warning indicator to show.

Do this simple test. Slowly turn the ignition switch to ON and watch the dash indicator lights for flickering or other signs of power loss. If yes, the switch is failing.
