I have the 2002 mercury sable ls premium 24 valve DOHC. The other day I was driving it and I came up to a stop sign. After stopping I attempted to accelerate. The engine revved up but no acceleration.
The car has been well maintained and the transmission has been flushed twice in its life (around 50 and 100 thou).
Also, there was no warning or banging/clanging around. Transmission fluid is good. Still have reverse and a little of first gear IF I drop it down into first.
