2002 Mercury Sable blows out overflow

With cooling system full. I drive vehicle, temp gauge is fine then you Stop And shut car, And it then the antifreeze starts filling overflow up fast And just keeps going And blows. Antifreeze out through lid. And It is alot like a gallon then It will run hot because your low on antifreeze. Actually I replaced fans And fans aré running. What could be causing this?

This could be either a faulty thermostat, part blocked radiator, faulty pressure cap, head gasket problem, have all these checked out, and with the radiator, a back flush will not be enough, it will have to be cleaned internally at a radiator shop, start here.
