Lately my car has been making a rattling noise, and I think it has been smelling like burning something. It happens mostly when I'm slowing down and coming home. Also, sometimes at lights I think the car may stall. It hasn't happened yet, but it is jumpy while I'm stopped. And sometimes the car doesn't start easily.

I do know that something is wrong with the rear drums, the mechanic told me about 4 months ago and said I would need to replace them soon. Also, my gas line is cracked and the gas cap does not screw on properly so the check engine light is always on.

Inspection is due in a month and I'm figuring I'm going to need to sink a lot of money in it to get it to pass. I had been thinking of trying to sell the car, but I don't think I can due to the state lemon law. Should I sell it to a dealership for parts? Or should I just get it fixed to try to sell? The value is only about $3500 under best case scenario. Thanks for your help!

Should have it checked by local shop and get an estimate as how much is it going to cost
and make the decision to fix or not
best way to get rid of it is by trading it
or sell as is as its not going to pass state inspection and you will be liable to make it pass if sold to a private party (depend on your state law )

Thanks for the reply! I figured that was what I should do, I just wanted someone who knows a bit more about cars to confirm it. I appreciate it!
