Engine Performance problem
1997 Mercury Mystique 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I'm retired and bought a 1997 Mystique for my step daughter to begin to get her license back. She now has a BAID System to breath into.

When she turns left the car stalls and the engine could die.

A local shop said she had to replace the Idle Air Control and Mass Air Flow Sensor for about $700 which we don't have.

If you could show me pictures of what the Idle Air Control and Mass Air Flow Sensors look like?

Also a DPFE and an Oxygen Sensor?

I can go take them off a car in the local junk yard and get her back in business.

Could you email me pictures or diagrams?

Thanks,

Christian

Your just asking for more problems than you already have. Those are not the type of parts that are reliable after they have been sitting around in a junkyard. New is the only way to go with that stuff.

Hi Wrenchtech,

Is there an aftermarket (not OEM) source for these parts that is LESS expensive?

Thank you,
Christian

Yes, they are all made aftermarket. Some in generic brands and some will be Motorcraft which is OEM but sold aftermarket so it's cheaper than the dealer.
